Virtua Fighter 2
Virtua Fighter 2 is a 3D one-on-one fighting game by Sega AM2, the team led by Yu Suzuki. It brings back the nine fighters from the original Virtua Fighter and adds two newcomers, Lion Rafale and Shun Di, with the cyborg Dural waiting as the final boss. The game first hit arcades in 1994. Sega brought it to Windows in 1997, adding network play and the option to switch on the updated Virtua Fighter 2.1 gameplay.

The hash must match exactly. If it does not, do not run the file.
Works on Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit).
What this patch fixes
- Starts on any colour depth (no more 256/65536 colour error)
- Borderless fullscreen at your desktop resolution, 4:3 with black bars, smooth GPU (OpenGL) scaling; no resolution switch, instant Alt+Tab
- Steady 60 fps with vsync; CPU use down from 100% to about a quarter of a core
- Starts in 16-bit colour, so the "Model2" models and "Shading" options in the F6 screen settings are available (the original always started in 8-bit)
- The mouse works in the scaled picture (F6 screen settings, options)
- Window mode still works: start VF2.EXE -window
No SEGA files are included or changed. Uninstalling = removing ddraw.dll.
Installation
- Extract this folder into the game folder (next to VF2.EXE), or anywhere else: the installer will then ask for the game folder.
- Close the game and double-click Install.bat. (Or simply copy ddraw.dll and ddraw.ini next to VF2.EXE yourself.)
- If you set compatibility options for VF2.EXE earlier (256 colours, Windows 95, ...), turn them off again.
